The Palace of Fine Arts was built for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition, which was held in San Francisco to celebrate the completion of the Panama Canal. Adjacent to the Palace is a duck pond and a small park. Often, you can see painters with their canvases directed at the palace.
