In the late 19th century, the Big 4 railroad barons (Leland Stanford, Mark Hopkins, Charles Crocker and C.P. Huntington) were neighbors at the very top of San Francisco's Nob Hill. The steep slopes of Nob Hill also sparked the invention of the San Francisco Cable Cars. Today, the two remaining Cable Car lines cross paths on Nob Hill. In the panorama, you can see Grace Cathedral, The Flood Mansion (now a private men's club), the Mark Hopkins Intercontinental and the Huntington Hotel. Though not visible in the panorama, the lavish Fairmont Hotel is located behind the Flood Mansion.
